The Origin of the Project

The project was born as a proposal from the Italian Church to establish a Mediterranean Youth Council, in the perspective of peaceful coexistence among peoples, rooted in fraternity.

The place of origin

Florence: where the project took root

In Florence, the project arises and takes root, inspired by Prof. Giorgio La Pira’s vision of the Mediterranean as a space of dialogue, fraternal coexistence, and peace. From Florence, a natural place of encounter and dialogue, the Italian Church proposed the creation of a Council of young people from the Mediterranean, in the perspective of a possible coexistence between populations based on fraternity.

Our purpose

Purpose and journey

The Council promotes dialogue and peaceful coexistence, placing young people at the centre as protagonists and builders of the future.
Young people are the protagonists of the project and represent the future of Mediterranean ecclesial communities, involved directly in an active and responsible way. It is a concrete sign that the Mediterranean Catholic Church chooses to look to the future through the eyes and minds of tomorrow’s women and men.
