About the Council

The Youth Council of the Mediterranean is a youth-led network that promotes dialogue and peaceful coexistence among peoples and communities, rooted in fraternity.

Youth at the Centre

Who we are

The proposal for the Mediterranean Youth Council originates from the Italian Church, as a concrete initiative emerging from the Mediterranean Bishops’ Conferences held in Bari (2020) and Florence (2022).
It aims to promote dialogue and the possibility of peaceful coexistence among people and communities, founded on fraternity.

The project places young people at its core, engaging them in an active and responsible way as the future of Mediterranean ecclesial communities and societies.

Governance

Coordination and collaboration

Coordination, implementation, and operational management have been entrusted by the Italian Episcopal Conference (CEI) to “Rete Mare Nostrum”, a network of Italian organizations overseeing the project’s implementation. The Council operates in close collaboration with the Presidency of the Italian Episcopal Conference (CEI).
